In all but one of the cases, you can just turn up – there will be no need to book. But check individual listings below.
On longer walks, we’re arranging transport back to the starting venue. Please note there may be a wait if we can have to organise two or three return journeys, depending on the amount of people needing free travel. Transport is subject to availability.
Walkers should wear appropriate clothing and shoes and be ready for a turn in the weather. Children are welcome but should be supervised by an adult.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 – WALK THE WALL: BRIDGENESS TO KINNEIL. Join archaeologist Geoff Bailey, from Falkirk Community Trust, as he leads a guided walk along the line of the Antonine Wall: from Harbour Road, Bo’ness, to Kinneil Estate, Bo’ness. Approx 2 miles (with free shuttle bus back). Leaves from the Bridgeness Slab replica, on Harbour Road, EH51 9LF, at 2 p.m. Free. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 – WALK: ROMAN FALKIRK. Join John Walker from the Stentmaisters group for a walk back in time through Callendar Park and back. Starts at Kemper Avenue Car Park, Falkirk (opposite the Cladhan Hotel), FK1 1UF. Starts at 2 p.m. No charge. Just turn up.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 – WALK: ROMAN KINNEIL. Members of The Friends of Kinneil charity join the regular Step Forth walk in Kinneil Estate, visiting the Kinneil Roman Fortlet. Leaves from outside Kinneil Museum at 2 p.m. Free. No need to book, just turn up. http://www.kinneil.org.uk
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 – WALK: FROM THE WHEEL TO ROUGHCASTLE. Join Falkirk Council Ranger Service on an autumn jaunt to Roughcastle Roman Fort on the Antonine Wall. Learn what the Romans were doing in Falkirk 2000 years ago! The walk should cover around 3.5 miles. Leaves from Falkirk Wheel entrance (Tourist Information Centre) at 10 a.m. Booking essential.
